A bronze pendant of a Gothic eagle. The Goths were a Germanic tribe that came out of Sweden, Gotland and northern Poland at the beginning of our era. They advanced through Ukraine to the Black Sea, part of the Goths remained in the Crimea, where their language definitively died out in the 18th century. Other groups of Goths later advanced to the heart of the then Roman Empire, the Eastern Goths ended up in present-day Italy, the Western Goths in what is now Spain. This pendant is inspired by women's Gothic buckles from Italy from the period around 500 AD. The size of the eagle in length (without the eyelet) is 3.5 cm.
